NO CHARACTER = NO BUSINESS

Having the most aesthetically pleasing and high-end website, page, or whatever medium through which you present your art, does not necessarily guarantee views on your brand, let alone the success of it. Why? Because

It has more to do with you than anything else — your signature, your feel, your character.

If you came up with the idea of starting a car company and for your first car you had the best car engine in the world, the best body material, the best team of designers and engineers and you pushed out a car in less than a month and painted it red and you thought since you had the best of everything it will be a huge success, it’s still no Ferrari and there is a great deal of chance that people will not pay much attention to you.
Why? Because

It has more to do with you than anything else — your signature, your feel, your character.

If it lacks character, it lacks soul — no feel, no touch — It’s not alive. It’s just animated object. It’s just there…

It’s very likely that if you talked to Enzo Ferrari, the founder of Ferrari, you would feel and see why Ferrari cars look the way they do. Because in his cars he portrayed what he was; he did what he was.

The way someone dresses, talks, walks and thinks, the nuances in all these movements are a translation of their character. Now if that person stays true to oneself, they will act in accordance with their uniqueness; if that person creates something, their creation will have their touch and feel for generations to come and it will have a voice. Imagine a rugged man who wears a jean with leather boots, a linen shirt with sleeves rolled up, and chops wood for workout. He probably does not have a taste for Rolls-Royce. But if you show him a 1969 Mustang, his eyes will most likely glow up — branding in accordance with character.

To have your signature, your feel, your character, be

  • Simple
  • Reliant on true self
  • Authentic

When you are simple, you are authentic, and when you are authentic, you are relying on your true self. All of that will result in a complexity that has been only achievable through simplicity.
